Do I Have Trauma?
July 1, 2018
What is trauma?
‘Trauma’ is often a misunderstood word because most people don’t recognise having it.
What people do recognise is their anxiety, their stress, their panic attacks and their sleepless nights, but this is just the nervous system‘s way of saying that there is something fundamentally wrong in the body.
Trauma can be anything from feeling neglected, no body there for you, or being abandoned as a child. To verbal, psychological or physical abuse, which then greatly shapes who we become as adults today. Trauma can also be an accident, loss of a loved one or something we have witnessed.
Trauma can show up in many ways and when not addressed, it creates stress and overwhelm in your nervous system that can lead to anxiety, fearfulness, paranoia, phobias, panic attacks and other disorders.
We are now understanding what trauma is. What trauma does to us and how it lives in the body. We can now learn to self regulate the body, enabling us to deal with the overwhelm, and balance our busy lives in a healthy way that supports us, so that we can begin to really heal.
“When the body is showing signs of overload; anxiousness, shortness of breath, panic attacks, sleepless nights, or gets easily overwhelmed, knowing how to counter this greatly helps you regulate your body’s nervous system. Don’t let the symptoms worsen, learn how to balance-the-busy so that you feel more connected and relaxed in your life.”
The Fundamentals of Healing Trauma was created to help people develop an understanding on how to deal with the symptoms showing up in the body by addressing some of the core issues that arise when we feel overwhelmed.
